Super fun standing wave pool using FlowRider technology at Planet Hollywood in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. The FlowRider surfing and boogie boarding activity on the 6th floor pool deck of the Planet Hollywood hotel is an amazing experience. The activity is for all ages and is geared towards thrill seekers who want to try surfing the standing wave pool.
The water moves very quickly across the wave pool which making surfing an exciting experience. The water is refreshing when surfing or boogie boarding in the outdoor Nevada desert heat.
The staff assist everyone to learn how to surf and boogie board the standing wave. For many people it is their first time. People take turns riding the wave where each group rotation lasts 30 minutes in length. You can book back to back 30 minute sessions once you get the hang of surfing the wave.
Shade is available at the bar next to the wave pool. Other areas around the pool deck feature shade for a group to relax while people take turns surfing the FlowRider wave pool.

I was very surprised to see surfing in a desert area like Las Vegas but it is available 7 days a week and was a lot of fun. The staff provide instruction to help you get used to riding the wild wave. The water is nice and refreshing along with very exciting when you ride the fast moving water that makes the standing wave. It only costs $25 USD per half hour to try riding the wave. Each half hour has a group and you take turns riding the wave. We went during the week and there was only two people in the group. It is located on the outdoor pool deck of Planet Hollywood in the corner which has nice shade in the early morning. The Flowrider is available after 10 am and I suggest that you go early in the day. I would highly recommend this outdoor activity in Las Vegas. I uploaded a few photos of other people riding the wave with great style! Looking forward to trying it again when we return to Las Vegas for another vacation.

I have always wanted to try one of these standing surf wave machines and the FlowRider at Planet Hollywood was awesome during July 2015. Super fun and the staff show you how to surf with instructions and initial launchings. The surfaces are padded and the water provides extra cushion when you fall. Went in group of six and took turns riding the wave in the shade and sun later in the day. I would highly recommend this experience when you visit Las Vegas to be thrilled and cool off with a great start to your day. Best time is to go around 10 AM. Suitable for young kids and adults. Whole family can go to the patio and watch or hangout in the shaded areas of the deck. Towels were free and the surfing costs $25 USD per half hour. They had boggie boarding also as an option which was popular with the younger and smaller children. It was a refreshing and very exciting experience. Make sure to wear lots of sunscreen and stretch your muscles first and afterwads when learning. I went during the week when access to the pool deck is free. They might charge $10 for pool deck access during the weekends I am not sure. Best to visit the website first and call ahead before going.

I had an amazing time surfing at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas during my vacation. I was surprised to find a Flowrider surfing wave in the middle of the Nevada desert. It was fantastic with fresh water surfing in the mornings during my stay in Las Vegas. I highly recommend that you try this when you go to the strip in Las Vegas during the day. The cost was only $25 and it was lots of fun. Looking forward to returning again to ride the wild wave again 🙂
